In looking to our future, I see Fred Smith as the candidate of choice for our fall election. However, we must work fiercely and diligently to place him as a candidate in the Primary Election in May.
When I look at the issues confronting North Carolinians and our country it is with a great level of unease. Fred Smith offers us the following under his leadership:
Health Care Reform: A three part plan that bears your closest scrutiny. There, you will find the solution of many of our health care problems as they exist today.
Crime: Pass the Jessica Law and effectively protect our children.
Immigration: Utilize Section 287 (g), the Immigration and Nationality Act. Fred Smith acknowledges we are a nation of immigrants who followed the âlawsâ in keeping our destination. However, there are 400,000 plus undocumented immigrants residing in our state alone! What a drain on our economy.
Spending: Cut line items that are no longer effective/necessary.
Roads and Environment: Our infrastructure is failing due to neglect by our current administration. Put roads where the traffic is!
Education: Cutting edge education for our children is imperative to our future. Fred Smith believes improving student performance starts with improving teacher quality and that good teachers and a rigorous curriculum can reduce the apathy among students who find little meaning in their course work. Ethics: Fred Smith promises not to be bought and sold by lobbyist and believes politics should be about people and ideas, not about money.
Culture of Life: There is no waffling on this issue as Fred Smith believes in respect for each human life and in the value and possibility for each soul. He believes reasonable people must work to reduce abortions and promote alternatives such as adoption, foster care and promote abstinence-based sex education programs.
Creating Jobs: This issue strikes especially true in the hearts of rural North Carolinians. Our state has the 14th highest poverty rate in the 50 states. (Please read Fred Smiths plan on economic development on his website).
Fred Smith sums it all up in his economic plan. Control Spending; Eliminate Needless Regulatory Barriers; Enforce the Rule of Law; Build and Maintain Good Roads; Protect Private Property Rights; and Provide Affordable Health Care.
Remember, you must be registered as Republican, Independent or Unaffiliated by April 11, 2008 in order to vote for Fred Smith in the May Primary.
